  • The money raised will be directed towards research here in Aotearoa, New Zealand and overseas. Initially funds will support the Cure Mito Foundation, a reputable organisation in the United States that is at the forefront of gene therapy and drug repurposing research for ECHS1 deficiency. This collaboration will ensure that New Zealand patients benefit from cutting-edge research and potential treatments being developed globally.

  • There has been a recent study on ECHS1D in Aotearoa that has identified a prevalence of this disease in our Māori and Pacific populations.

  • All money raised will only be used for medical research and development related to ECHS1D. This includes gene therapy and drug repurposing. It will not be used to benefit a single individual, but any and all people that are diagnosed with ECHS1D.

  • Of course! We would love you to spread the word. Tell your friends and family, share it on social media, let your work colleague and neighbours know too.

  • Yes, you can claim a 33.33% tax credit for all donations over $5 to Cure as one (Cure ECHS1D Aotearoa). You will be issued a receipt once you have made your donation.

  • Yes, you can definitely make a donation if you are outside of New Zealand. Just follow the standard secure payment processing method above.
